Code Of Professional Conduct

It is important for ALL GIAP members to adhere to specific professional and ethical standards that guide the conduct of our work. They are as follows:

  • Members shall show utmost integrity and diligence in the performance of claims examination and investigation.
  • Members shall not withhold any information to skew the examination or investigation to the benefit of ether the principal or the claimant.
  • Members shall avoid bias and prejudice in the conduct of their work. They should not skew their findings to the advantage of neither the principal nor the claimant.
  • Members do not espouse or express any view or opinion in the performance of their work. Only the facts are noted during examination and reported in the investigation.
  • Members shall avoid any conflict of interest in the performance of their work. Conflict of interest may arise when instructed to examine or investigate a claim involving a family member or a close friend. This situation should be immediately explained to the principal.
  • Members are to testify only the facts of their examination or investigation in the courts; and be civil in their conduct in the court.
  • Members shall not divulge any confidential information obtained during an examination or investigation to any unrelated their party.
  • Members shall reveal every evidence, verbal or documentary, to the principal or client, failing which they are in breach of professional conduct. The highest form of professionalism shall be always displayed.
